Great to see Donald Sterling NOT running around, yapping and suing the NBA! The Los Angeles Clippers, a high-flying and high-achieving basketball team, is now owned by Steve Ballmer, former Microsoft CEO.
Ballmer resigned on Tuesday, leaving as a member of board, which was his only connection with the company after dropping down from Chief Executive Officer. Due to his ownership of the Clippers, he passed on his spot to Satya Nadella, former Executive Vice President of Microsoft.
“Given my confidence and the multitude of new commitments I am taking on now, I think it would be impractical for me to continue to serve on the board, and it is best for me to move off,” Mr. Ballmer wrote. “The fall will be hectic between teaching a new class and the start of the N.B.A. season, so my departure from the board is effective immediately.”
The purchase of the Clippers rounds out at $2 billion, not THAT much, considering that Ballmer’s personal wealth is estimated to be $20.7 billion!
Now that Ballmer is out and running, both the NBA and Microsoft are forever changed! Will Satya keep Microsoft rolling? Will Ballmer transform the Clippers into title-contenders? The answer will be revealed very soon!
