The Apple Watch was just recently unveiled along with the iPhone 6 and is expected to be available to the public by early 2015 with the starting price at $349. As a completely new product, questions have been raised as to whether or not the Apple Watch can match to the success and standards set by the iPhone, iPod, and iPad in the past.
The appeal of the product will definitely be less since the price has been set above what was expected and the watch is only compatible with the versions of iPhone 5 and iPhone 6. However, regardless of these facts there is no doubt that people will be lining up outside Apple stores the night before the watch is made available.
But is it really worth your time and money? It must be said the Apple has been making some nice apps for their phone. The first of those apps are Facebook and Twitter. The Facebook app will allow users to receive notifications and scroll through their news feed using the “digital crown” on the side. The “digital crown” is a dial on the side of the watch which acts as the home button on an iPhone. Apple is also including a City Mapper’s app which provides information about mass transit, a BMW app which tells the user how much charge is left in their electric vehicles, and a Lutron app which allows people to control the lights in their homes.
The watch itself has 3 different construction styles. The Apple Watch, is the first, which has a stainless steel case and a ceramic back. The second version is the Apple Watch Sport with has an aluminum body and composite back. Lastly, the Apple Watch Edition has a ceramic back and also has 18-karat gold added to its body.
The Watch can act as a music player, a fitness device, and allows you to make payments through Apple Pay. In addition, the watch faces can be customized and come in 3 different collections. It displays the weather, lunar cycles, as well as calendar appointments.
Despite some promising features and apps, Apple failed to answer any questions about the battery life of the watch. The public will be very keen to know about the battery life especially after a few battery issues with the iPhone 5. Even though the design of the watch is appealing to most people, it might not be readily accepted by everyone in the market. It remains to be seen if the Apple Watch proves to be a game changer for Apple or if it is labeled as just another ordinary gadget.
